FC Barcelona appoints Hansi Flick as new head coach

Flick signs contract until 30 June 2026

The German arrives at Camp Nou following Xavi's departure

FC Barcelona have announced the appointment of Hansi Flick as their new head coach on a contract until 30 June 2026.

Flick, who has been out of work since leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season, replaces Xavi, who left the club by mutual consent last week.

The German coach has a wealth of experience, having won the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League treble with Bayern in 2020.

He also led the German national team to victory at the 2014 World Cup.

Flick will be tasked with turning around Barcelona's fortunes after a disappointing season in which they finished second in La Liga and were knocked out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage.

The German coach is expected to arrive in Barcelona in the coming days and will be presented to the media at a press conference on Monday.
